Individual psychomotor therapy is useful in case of pathologies affecting the areas of motor, affective, relational, cognitive development or when there are blocks or slowdowns in the psycho-corporeal maturation process of children: motor expressiveness disorders, delays in psychomotor development , cognitive delays, language disorders and delays, relationship difficulties (aggression or inhibition), behavioral difficulties. It is usually aimed at children between the ages of 0 and 8-9 years.
The originality of this rehabilitation practice lies in the simplicity of the means through which it is carried out: it is through the body, movement, play action, (which is distinguished in a motor, symbolic and socialization sense), relationship and material of the setting (cubes, rectangles of foam, mattresses, balls, sheets, ropes, ..) that the therapist then works to make these difficult situations evolve positively. The psychomotor is considered the mediator of the activity, which through the interaction of play guides him in passing “from being a body to recognizing himself as a body”.
